Avon Tips 1 ~ Placing Your First Order

Placing Your First Avon Order


Congratulations again on starting your Avon business.  This is the first in a series of messages with timely business management tips and tricks.  They will deal mostly with the administrative side of the business so that we can focus more on the sales and service side during our success coaching calls.  I recommend saving these and the emails that you get directly from Avon in a separate folder in your email program for future reference.

I highly recommend reviewing the Ordering Online guide by clicking on the "Need Help Ordering" link on the my orders tab of your website as these will answer a lot of your questions about entering orders and help you avoid errors in your order. 

Here are a few tips about placing your order:

  • When ordering Demos from the What's New you will notice that the items will show at the brochure price.  Because our price on demos is based on what our earnings level is at the time (see details inside the front cover of any What's New) demos will always show at the brochure price for the item.  Remember when figuring your estimated Award Sales and Earnings Level that Demos count at the "DEMO Price" listed in the What's New rather than full customer price. 
  • If you need to refer to the brochure and don't have one handy you can click on "Shop Brochures and Flyers" in the menu on the left of the order entry screen.  You can also change the campaign to view the previous 2 campaign's brochures as well. 
  • One very common mistake made by new representatives (and sometimes us long time reps) is when ordering brochures.  Remember that brochures are ordered in packs of 10 so if you want 50 brochures you would put in a quantity of 5.  A quantity of 50 will get you 500 brochures.
  • When completing your order you will be ordering brochures 2 campaigns ahead, for example if you are in Campaign 2 you will be ordering books for Campaign 4.  If you need more brochures for the next campaign, you can use item number 055-745 and change the campaign number to the previous campaign.  For example to get Campaign 3 brochures you would change the campaign in the drop down box for that line to 1.  
  • To avoid a last minute rush of orders from your customers, that could cause your own order to be late, give your customers an order deadline a day or two before when your order is actually due.  This gives you some breathing room for customers who call in after the deadline, and allows you some flexibility in when you place your order. Customers who call after you have submitted your order can either have their order placed on your next campaign order, pay the One Simple Fee to have it shipped separately, or place their order through your online store to be shipped directly to them (a shipping fee of $5.95 may apply)
  • We can backorder 2 Campaigns so you may be able to get a better price on some items. This option can be used to increase your profit on the product, or the savings can be passed on to your customers, which can gain you more customer loyalty. When entering the item number click on the magnifying glass to see the available prices in the current and previous 2 campaigns.  Be sure to confirm the price in the earlier brochure before quoting it to your customer.
