 Working Your Business While Traveling

Summer time is vacation time and whether you'll be gone for a couple of days or a couple of weeks there are a few things you can do to keep your customers happy and your business running smoothly. Of course it's easier to work your business around your travel if you have some flexibility in when you travel but more often than not there are other factors that determine when you travel. Once you know your travel dates you'll want to see what key campaign dates will fall during the time you will be away and plan what adjustments you will make.

If you will have an order due while you are gone will you be willing to take orders from your customers on the road? And will you have the time and internet access to submit your order? Or would you prefer to leave the business at home? If you prefer to leave the business at home you'll want to reschedule or delegate the things you would normally do on the days you'll be gone.

However you decide to work it, be sure to keep your customers in the loop about when you will be unavailable, especially if there will be a delay in getting them their order or if they will need to get their order to you sooner than normal. Be sure to factor in a day before and after you are leaving and returning to give yourself self some time to ease in and out of the work routine.

You can submit your order early if necessary, it will be in the system ready to process when your regular order date arrives. And you can temporarily change your delivery address to a nearby friend or family member if no one will be available to receive the order when it is delivered at your home.

While it is always best to place an order every campaign if you will be gone an extended time you can give your customers 2 brochures at once and let them know you will be delivering all orders from both books at the same time.  If you don't at least place an order for brochures and your personal order, you'll need to backorder the brochures that you missed when you place your next order. For customers who are not able to wait until you return to get their order suggest they place their order for that campaign via your online store and choose direct delivery to receive the order in about a week.
