Keeping your store open over the holidays

Good Morning All,

I would like to start this issue of Meeting in Your Inbox by sharing how truly grateful that I get to work with so many wonderful people like you. It really is a pleasure.

This issue of Meeting in Your Inbox is going to focus on how to make sure that all of your hard work this year in building your business pays off going into the new year.

As 2010 starts winding down I really can’t emphasize the importance of consistency in your business. One of the great advantages to a home based business is its flexibility. But sometimes that can be one of it’s drawbacks as well. It is very easy to say, “oh I just have so much to do this week, I’ll just put off those phone calls for my business until next week.” Trust me I know, I’ve done it myself many times. This time of year some Representatives will even skip an entire campaign. This can actually be the most detrimental decision you can make for your business. Let’s take a look at this from the perspective of the customer.

Like us, she has been rushing around trying to get everything done that she has to do for the holidays. In the frenzy of buying Christmas gifts and planning for and attending holiday parties, Christmas programs at school, prepping for the big Christmas dinner and traveling or hosting out of town guests, she has forgotten to order her daily needs products like shower gel and body lotion. Now of course I’ve been telling you how to get your customers buying those products from you instead of brick and mortar stores so she immediately looks for her Avon book so she can put in her call or shoot off an email with her order. Only she finds that you have decided not to place an order that campaign, or worse yet that she doesn’t even have a current brochure because you didn’t pass them out. Now what is she to do? She will have to make a trip to the drugstore, or the big box store down the street, and the next time she needs to buy personal care products she will be more likely to return to that store that was there when she needed rather than risk being disappointed by Avon again. You will have lost all of the momentum that you have been building and have to start all over to win her back as a daily needs customer.

Not only is placing an order every campaign over the holidays important for keeping your current daily needs customers happy and shopping in your store instead of the local Wal-Mart, it’s a perfect time to emphasize the benefits of shopping with you instead.

No crowds, no traffic, personal service from someone who cares about them and can help them find the right product for them, and hassle free returns.

So make sure you keep your store open over the holidays so you can start off 2011 with a thriving business rather than a business in recovery.

Check your holiday order schedule on youravon.com to be sure you know all of the order date changes so you can avoid late fees and ensure your orders arrive on time.
If you will be traveling, have family visiting, or just need to take some time off to recuperate from the holiday activities please feel free to call me so we can discuss the appropriate adjustments you can make to keep your store open and take a vacation at the same time.
Keep talking with new people about your business. Even if they do not become a customer during the holiday season you will have that many more potential customers to connect with after the new year.
By the way I will be out of the office December 23rd through January 2nd, as I am every year. Want to know how I do it? Call me!

That’s all for this issue. I hope you all enjoy a wonderful holiday season.
